Greening your home isn’t just for the eco elite
One of the common misconceptions about going green in the home, is that you can′t afford to jump on the eco bandwagon. The clever branding of green products has pushed up prices and left everyday people without choices. Is this really so?
The real ethos behind going eco is not about throwing everything away and buying new green products, quite the opposite. It′s above renovating, reusing, remodelling, repairing, redecorating – creating as little waste as possible and making efficient use of salvage, reclaim and second hand materials and products. What you have in your home may not be perfect from an environmental perspective, but it would be insane to throw it all away. Take the pressure off landfill and find inventive ways to redesign your home. There are the extremes from the 100% natural cob houses to the trendy eco builds…….. the middle line is everyone else who already owns or rents a home, and how they can bring sustainability to their lives on a practical and everyday level. Making informed decisions about how to decorate or furnish you home will help the environment.
